Region 4 – The Shuswap Region

The Shuswap region is known as “the Lake Country” because of several interconnecting picturesque lakes.

There will be a very short stint east on Highway 1 to Craigellachie and before going north on Anstey River Forest Service Road.

This road climbs continually and travels due north before turning west and then south to arrive at the small town of Seymour Arm.

Accommodations and food are available in Seymour Arm and fuel is usually available.  If fuel is available topping up your tank would be pertinent here.

Now the route goes through seldom traveled roads into Momich Lakes Provincial Park.

Just past the park the route turns north along Adams Lake and continues on to Highway 5, arriving in the town of Clearwater.  Clearwater has a population of approximately 5000 and sits at the entrance of the 5250 square kilometre Wells Grey Provincial Park.  A side trip into the park to see Helmcken Falls, the fourth highest falls in Canada is well worth the time.  All services are available in Clearwater and leaving with a full tank of gas is a necessity.
